What Is a Premix and Why Does It Matter?

A premix is a feed pre-mixture obtained by blending vitamins, minerals, trace elements and, where needed, other functional additives in specific proportions. It is added to the animal's daily ration in very small amounts, yet its impact on productivity and health is significant.

Why is it necessary?

Natural feed sources alone cannot adequately cover all the vitamins and minerals an animal needs. This gap becomes even more pronounced in high-yield breeds. A premix balances these deficiencies, supporting growth, fertility, and milk and meat production.

How to choose the right premix?

The species, age, production stage and the content of the current ration all determine premix selection. It is therefore best to consult a veterinarian or animal-science specialist before using a premix.
