Signs of Mineral Deficiency in Small Ruminants

Depending on the soil structure of grazing areas, small ruminants may not get enough of certain minerals. These deficiencies often reduce productivity insidiously, without an obvious disease.

Common signs

  • Deterioration in wool/hair quality
  • Lower conception rates and low birth weight
  • Loss of appetite and stunted growth

Balanced supplementation of trace elements such as selenium, copper, zinc and cobalt is decisive in preventing these problems. Choosing a premix suited to your region's soil and feed analysis is recommended.
